The reason I like this shot so much is it has the cop who was given a rose, the hands of someone applauding the lesbian couple, a peace sign, the lesbian couple, the journalist in the back filming every thing, the back of the man's head is the man protesting and I like that he's included without dominating and without his sign being fully readable (but I like the fact that his ring is visible as it grounds the picture even more in the marriage debate), there's the journalist listening to him, but it's not overwhelming the shot, and then there is enough of the building to see the SF above the door and know it's city hall.

That being said, I'm pretty sure no one else would notice if they weren't there and didn't know what was going on. In which case it would just look cluttered.
