Living in Labels

A reprocessed version of this shot.
This time done when I was actually awake (gasp). Amazing what being alert ads to a shot. I suppose that's my biggest problem with photography. I'm rather noctural and it's not unusual for me to be puttering around at 1, 2, 3 even 4 am sometimes. Combine that with the fact that I'm stupid enough to sign up for 8 am classes and you get a rather consistantly sleep deprived person who thus becomes lazy when taking and processing photos. I should do an experiment and spend a sleep deprived week taking photos with film (so I can't see the results till later) and then a week when I've had a lot of sleep go back and reshoot. Then compare results... I'll add that to the summer to do list.

Urv, nicely processed and good shot.

Now having said that and having looked at your Living in Labels series, I find them all just a bit cliche' and not particularly creative. If you are aiming for "nice" and "good," you've achieved it. But I think you are looking for something that reaches out and GRABS your viewer and makes a STATEMENT or forces the viewer to THINK. I'd love to see some out of the box thinking from you here--you are certainly capable of it.

Urv: Well in terms of these being cliche - part of that is because these are the intro shots which are meant to be more generic. I've got several hundred photos of each model in much more individualistic poses etc.. but I was presenting 2 of each model for a studio class so I wanted simple and easily comparable shots from each of the models. Thus anything too different was put on the back burner to be processed later. And these are the ones I processed for the class. Eventually my favorite images will be seen here- and I'd love to get your imput on whether or not you think those meet the potential of the project.
